Brazilian Hardwood Decks
At Fowler Exteriors, we take pride in transforming outdoor spaces into beautiful and functional extensions of homes. Two of our recent projects using Brazilian wood, a ground-level deck, and a two-story deck have brought joy to our clients and showcased the quality of our craftsmanship. Let’s delve deeper into these transformations and see how they can inspire you to prepare your home for the holiday season.
Highlighting Our Recent Deck Projects
– Ground-Level Deck Transformation –
Our ground-level deck project involved replacing an existing deck with a new one crafted from Garapa, a Brazilian hardwood known for its durability and beauty. This wood is ideal for outdoor applications as it’s naturally resistant to rot, decay, and insect attack. The warm golden tones of Garapa also add a touch of sophistication to the deck, making it a perfect place for relaxation or outdoor dining.
In this transformation, we started by removing the old deck. After preparing the area, we framed the new deck with Garapa boards. We also installed handrails, stairs, and cable railings for safe and easy access to the garden.
Cable railings are an excellent choice for ground-level decks. They have become increasingly popular due to their sleek, modern aesthetics and the unobstructed views they offer. Finally, we cleaned up the site and hauled away all trash, leaving the space neat and ready for use.
– Two-Story Deck with Spiral Staircase –
The two-story deck project required a more complex approach due to its height and the addition of a spiral staircase. In this case, we used pressure-treated lumber for the deck frame. This cost-effective solution provides long-lasting durability in outdoor environments.
We began by removing the existing deck. Next, we dug piers and installed post brackets to support the new structure. After framing the deck, we installed Cumaru decking floorboards, another durable Brazilian wood. This type of wood is known for its density and rich brown color, which adds elegance to any outdoor space.
The spiral staircase was a stylish, space-saving solution that added a unique architectural element to the deck. We also added screens to the porch, creating a comfortable area to enjoy hot chocolate outdoors without worrying about insects.
